Skincare For Your Soul: Insights & Tips
We’ve all heard of the 10-step Asian skincare routine, right? I am sure you immediately got overwhelmed by hearing that phrase for the first time.
But actually, you don’t need to apply all 10 products to make your skin glow. All you need is a basic understanding of how to build a skincare routine that will benefit YOU specifically.
In Skincare For Your Soul, Jude Chao showcases a handy ‘Skincare Hierarchy Of Needs‘ chart that saved me from the constant confusion of how I should prioritize my skincare choices.
From The Basics…
This book threw my cleansing routine upside down as I realized that double cleansing is a game changer. Previously, I was scared to put cleansing oil/balm on my already oily and acne prone skin. BUT! It turns out that cleansing oil/balm is much more gentle and less irritating than cleansing water.
While you might think that you’ve mastered cleansing and moisturizing, this book also teaches you how to choose the best cleanser for your specific skin type and types of moisturizing ingredients to look out for.
To More Detailed Tips…
Skincare For Your Soul offers detailed, informative, yet easy to understand tips on how to choose your skincare products to fit your skin type and needs. For example, do you know how to choose the best sunscreen for your skin? What ingredients should you avoid? Which sunscreens give you a non-greasy finish? How are certain ingredients extracted? Jude covers all of these topics making this book more informative than I expected.
Self Care Foundation
Another interesting thing about this book is that it is not just about skincare. The book ties together skincare and self-care. Self-care is more than just applying a cream on your face; it’s about taking care of yourself from the inside out. Jude Chao gave me valuable knowledge on how to achieve outer beauty through inner peace by simply sticking to a skincare routine. From this book, you’ll learn how self-care starts with self-awareness and you realize that you deserve to treat yourself as a person of worth.
Skincare For Your Soul: Review
For those of us who fell into the Asian skincare rabbithole, this book is a must! Skincare for Your Soul is about self-care as much as it is about skincare. This goes for both newbies who are curious to learn about skincare in general as well as “ardent enthusiasts.” Find the skincare routine that works and benefits YOU specifically with this book! And learn how to treat yourself with value because you deserve it.
Here’s an acne-friendly Korean skincare routine that I made based on this book!
1. For a first cleanser, try out Hyggee Soft Reset Green Cleansing Balm to remove excess sebum, dead skin cells & makeup, especially if you have sensitive skin like me.
2. When it comes to second cleansers, I trust 107 Beauty Chaga Jelly Low ph Cleanser that gently cleanses sensitive/irritated skin.
3. The 107 Micro Hydro Toner contains types of 3 Hyaluronic acids for ample hydration and 17 different Amino acids, Lactic acids, Acetic acids to gently exfoliate and nourish the skin.
4. I use the Bellamonster Stress Out Solution Serum which soothes skin by combining Carrot Seed Oil (suitable for acne-prone/sensitive skin) and Centella Asiatica to tackle red and irritated skin.
5. The Hyggee Relief Chamomile Cream is the most hydrating yet lightweight cream for oily skin! It also has soothing benefits which is great for sensitive skin.
