Howdy Heyyy from a super dry West Texas! In a few hours, I’ll be off to sunny Los Angeles, for a month-long staycation with the BFF, and I figured that this would be a great time to share my in-flight Korean skincare routine.
When packing for L.A., I had 5 things on my to-do list: buying vintage Levi’s, not forgetting my EpiPen, curating a skincare edit, and remembering to bring all of my chargers. I doubt you’d be surprised to learn that the only thing I forgot was my EpiPen, which is clearly a great example of adulting at age 30… No, it’s fine, #judgeme.
This trip to L.A. is vastly different for me, skin-wise. I’m recovering from hormonal acne, hyperpigmentation, and tons of texture issues. So the focal point of my skincare list was to cull essences, hydrating toners, mists, serums, and sheet masks.
For this 5-hour flight, I decided to be proactive, especially as nothing good happens to your skin when it’s 10,000+ feet in the air. And something I’ve learned from my never-ending wanderlust is that the key to that post-flight chok-chok glow is to curate a system of moisture & hydration while dilly-dallying in the wonders of light oils, ampoules, serums, and copious amounts of water.
Without further ado, I present to you My Short-Haul In-Flight Skincare Routine | AM Edition.
PRE-FLIGHT
- My favorite thing to do before a flight is to take a long nice shower because I’m into them and I instantly feel calmer. My mental fortitude feels stronger and clearer. My favorite body cleanser is the gentle Oneoseven Feminine Body Soap – which is super lux, and boasts tons of hanbang ingredients, and a mild rose scent that is lasting, so you can skip dousing yourself with perfume.
- Afterwards, I mist my face, tap in some light serum and lotion, and a water-based sun cream like the Biore Watery Essence before rushing to catch my AM flight.
THE FLIGHT
Now, that we’re in our seat (preferably the window!) it’s time to bump up the hydration so we can invoke the dewyness of Artemis.
I’ll take you through my in-flight routine step by step! But first, I want you to breathe in, breathe out, and give yourself an internal hug for confidence. Applying skincare in a public sphere can feel intimidating, especially with your seatmate side-eyeing you, but let no man/woman separate you from the glow!
- Before starting, I like to do a quick refresh with a cleansing water, to prep my skin before jumping into my mini routine. Okay. Now, are you ready? If so, let’s mist for our lives!
- When searching for a mist, I recommend one without too many nasties like alcohol, fillers, or parabens. I personally recommend a mist based in fermented ingredients and antioxidants. Two favorites of the moment include the Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Moist Mist (herbal ingredients, with a focus on anti-inflammation) & the Oneoseven Core Flex Essential Liquid (naturally fermented vinegar, and anti-aging properties).
- Next up, we’re gonna pat in an essence or toner of your choice, I’m partial to the Whamisa Deep Rich toner, its perfection for 7 skins, but any hydrating toner will work or feel free to apply a first treatment essence.
- Whatever you do, I urge you not to rush because it’s not like you’re going anywhere soon. So turn on an audible book or catch up the latest episode of Marvels Runaways, and slowly tap in that goodness.
Next up, is sheet-masking, which is supremely relaxing, but will get you the biggest side-eye.
- You seriously can’t go wrong here, any mask would work. But, again let’s be proactive. Whether it’s pores, anti-aging, acne, or hyperpigmentation, choose a mask that targets your main skin concern. Some of my favorites include A. by BOM Ultra Cool Leaf Mask for troubled tired skin or Mastiha Shop Super Sheet Mask for focus on brightening + anti-wrinkles.
- As the whole purpose of this in-flight routine is to boost hydration, it’s uber important to add in a serum that helps bind in all the goodies we’ve applied. I’m partial to the Fresh Essence by HYGGEE or the Huxley Oil-Essence, but honestly, any serum that boasts birch tree juice, centella asiatica, or niacinamide would be an excellent choice.
- Depending on your skin type, you could stop at the serum step, but for everyone else, I definitely recommend further sealing in everything with a moisturizer. Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream is great choice for lasting hydration with boost in skin plumping for dehydrated skin.
- Finally, we have UV protection. which is such an important step that so many people neglect while curating their in-flight skincare. One of my favorites is Earth’s Recipe Waterful Sun Gel, which is a lightweight hydrating UVA/UVB protector that doesn’t leave a white cast, which is perfect for my brown skinned girls. Talk about ahmmmazzzing!!!
Annnddd that my loves is my short-haul in-flight skincare routine. No fuss and always effective. In-flight skincare should be all about hydration, so remember to mist, mask, and drink tons of water, to achieve that glow!
