From Cleansing Wipes to a ‘Holy Grail’ Cleansing Balm
Cleansing is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine. Whether you have dry, oily, combo, or aging skin – your skin needs to be cleansed correctly every day.
I remember the days before the wonders of first-cleansers… I would terrorize my poor acne-prone skin, rubbing off makeup with cleansing wipes in attempt to “clean” my skin. You think I stopped there? Unfortunately, no. After a good ten minutes with cleansing wipes, I’d use a cleansing foam to vigorously wash off the residue. Good grief, what was I thinking?
But, I have an excuse. I was a teen at the time, and it was before Korean double-cleansing was a thing. Now that we know the awesome benefits of double-cleansing, there is no excuse for harsh cleansing. And today, I’m going to talk about a Korean cleansing balm that I came across in 2020 that forever changed my cleansing routine.
A by BOM Ultra Watery Eoseoncho Cleanser
The name can be a little bit confusing – this is not watery nor is it just a cleanser; it’s a cleansing balm. An ultra-luxe cleansing balm formulated with Camellia Oil, Chia Seed Extract, and my favorite ingredient of 2020 – Eoseongcho, AKA Heartleaf.
I’ve tried a plethora of Korean cleansing balms over the years. While they’ve generally done a good job of removing makeup, the A by BOM Ultra Watery Eoseongcho Cleanser did much more than that, and let me tell you why I’m convinced that it’s due to Eoseongcho.
Benefits of Eoseongcho “Heartleaf” for Skin
Eoseongcho is a plant found in Asia more well known as “Heartleaf” outside of Korea. This natural ingredient has been used in Korean skincare for years for its anti-inflammatory benefits. But what can it do for a cleansing balm? Here are three reasons why an Eoseongcho infused cleansing balm will improve your skin faster than any other cleanser:
- Antibacterial: One of the main reasons why people with acne-prone skin (like me!) love this ingredient – it keeps acne-causing bacteria away from the skin, making it unable to cause pesky breakouts!
- Clarifying: Eoseongcho can be seen as almost a natural alternative to BHA – deeply penetrating into your pores, clearing out the gunk, and unclogging your pores without the sensitization risks of an acid.
- Sebum-control: Due to the clarifying properties of Eoseongcho, it also helps control your skin’s sebum production, and keeps your oily skin at bay.
Removes All Makeup and More
The first time I used this cleansing balm was on a day when I had a full face of makeup. I did expect A by BOM Ultra Watery Eoseongcho Cleanser to remove most of my makeup as would a good Korean cleansing balm, but it so much more than that. It not only removed my makeup flawlessly, but it also pulled out all kinds of gunk from my pores that I didn’t even know I had. And everything washed off flawlessly without residue while keeping my skin soft and supple.
How this Cleansing Balm Improved My Skin
It took me about 3 months to finish this 100 ml tub of A by BOM Ultra Watery Eoseongcho Cleanser.
The biggest change I noticed during those three months, besides the incredibly clear skin, was the noticeably less visible pores and blackheads.
I also experienced fewer breakouts around my jawline and chin (thanks maskne for giving me those breakouts in the first place!).
A Cleansing Balm That Makes a Difference
A by BOM Ultra Watery Eoseongcho Cleanser is a dreamy cleansing balm. The Eoseongcho in the formula contributed to smoothing my pores and clearing my skin, but superfood ingredients like Chia Seed also make this cleansing balm worth trying if an antioxidant boost is what you are looking for.
