With cooler weather and rustic foliage to set the mood, autumn is picking up steam as the new favorite wedding season. Couples will be tying the knot in mobs, so get ready for your mailbox to be flooded with wedding invites. Whether you’ll be the one walking down the aisle or trying to catch the bouquet, the last thing you want is to look dull and drab on the big day. Let’s dive deeper into just how exactly you can DIY your way to achieving the perfect wedding glow.
Relax
Planning a wedding is definitely a stressful time. But, we all know what stress does to the skin. For some, it might just mean a few bumps around the forehead while for others chronic rashes may worsen with stress. Either way, it’s not a good look for a wedding. Not to mention, intensified stress can cause loss of sleep which will only dull your complexion even more.
Take time out for yoga, meditation, reading, bullet journaling, or whatever it is that helps you de-stress. Your wedding may be around the corner, but to take everything one breath at a time and make time to just chill. Let’s avoid that Bridezilla skin!
Juice Up!
As cliche as it is, glowing skin starts from within. Starting and ending the day with a natural fruit or veggie smoothie can help activate the lymphatic system and bring down any bloating or puffiness in the skin. This is also a great way to flush out toxins from your body, resulting in gradual weight loss. A two-for-one to get you ready for those wedding photos.
Julia Hunt has some great recipes you can start out with, or just get creative and add your own favorites to the mix!
Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!
Before you run to the nearest aesthetician, promising miracle fixes just in time for your wedding, try just adding some exfoliating steps to your routine. You may have the right products, but you have to make sure your skin is CLEAN and free of layers of dead skin build-up. Only then will your skin be ready to soak in the full effects.
For your face, try a gentle exfoliating toner like the Pixi Glow Tonic. With 5% Glycolic Acid, this toner will gently exfoliate and purify skin while applying the soothing and energizing properties of ginseng and aloe vera.
When it comes to a wedding, keeping your body soft and glowing is just as important as your face. For that, try something a little less conventional; the Korean Exfoliating Cloth. These clothes will remove the dead skin you didn’t even know you had and leave you soft to the touch for days. Your beau won’t be able to keep their hands off you!
Regular Facials
Facials are always fun, but it’s not every day that you can drop everything to visit a dermatology clinic. While we love a good facial, they can leave you unexpectedly red while your face heals. Red splotches are the last thing you want right before a wedding.
Go for a less abrasive DIY modeling mask instead. A great one to try right before a wedding is the A by BOM Lux Bride Modeling Mask. With ingredients like real gold, silver, and pearl, this is a unique way to get a luxurious spa quality facial that takes less than an hour. Best of all, it’s cooling, gentle, and peels right off with no mess! The box contains 5 mask sets and a follow-up serum, so you get 5 facials for the price a lot less than one spa facial! Use one per week leading up to your wedding and you’ll have soft, supple, and radiant skin for the special day. It’s also a fun idea for bachelorette parties!
Hair Removal
If there was ever a time to consider hair removal, your wedding (and honeymoon!) are it! But, it can be overwhelming and expensive to get yourself into a salon regularly for a wax or a laser treatment. Thank goodness for the Braun Venus Silk-expert 5 IPL. With this great DIY hair removal tool, you can bring the results of laser hair removal into the comfort of your own home, on your own time. You’ll want to get started on this early. Block out an hour each week to zap away hair follicles and after 8 to 10 weeks you’ll be baby smooth. No trips to the salon and the same results for (fraction) of the price!
Nails
At a wedding, you have to look good from head-to-toe. That includes your fingernails AND toenails. Fortunately, it’s 2019 and things have gotten so easy it’s hard to believe. Easy press-on and sticker nails are popping up everywhere here in Korea and it’s pretty clear why. For just a few dollars and less than an hour of your time, you can walk around with salon quality nails at your fingertips.
This list just goes to show that you don’t have to break the bank or go too far from home to get yourself wedding-ready. With a few on-trend DIY products and a change of habits, you’ll be ready for the big day with the right confidence. Keep it up and your glow will last long after the wedding!
